Kindness, A Curse for the Sensitive Soul

Sitting silently in the corner,
You observe every little thing that’s happening around,
But you never let it reflect on your face.
You avoid connecting with people face to face,
But still, find happiness when a stranger smiles at you.
You cannot see people in trouble,
So you lend them a hand,
And go out of your way,
To make them feel home.
Not because you are seeking attention,
Not because you are a people-pleaser,
But you feel that there’s peace in finding a shoulder to lean on,
Or a hand to hold,
When you are all lost.
So you put everyone else above your needs,
And offer an ear to hear.
You bury your sorrows and pain,
And stand strong for your loved ones.
Even while you yourself are drowning in the sea of emotions.
That’s when it hurts a little,
For being kind,
Not because your kindness wasn’t reciprocated.
But because some people lack realisation and empathy,
That they forget how important it is.
To offer kindness to someone in need.
